Dating...ugh

At first glance, I was excited to delve into the dating world. After being in a miserable marriage for the past eighteen years, I was looking forward to this next chapter and treating this journey as an adventure. I was excited to download a bunch of apps onto my phone, I was looking hot (stress of divorce naturally made me drop some serious pounds), and honestly I needed some positive attention and adoration. In the beginning the swiping felt like a video game, If we match "Boom," and if we don't, there is another guy a swipe away. This instant gratification is also why it is so hard to find someone who is looking for a LTR (long term relationship in dating lingo). You come across a lot of quantity but not that much quality. We all want cupid's arrow to hit us when we look across the room into the eyes of the handsome man sitting in the corner of the restaurant. Reality check - that does not happen on the daily, so off to the dating sites we go. I went on some dates and had one long term relationship that lasted a year. I've dated guys that complained about their ex wife on the whole date, guys that were unsure of their sexual orientation (at least according to my senses), guys that looked nothing like the pictures they posted, guys that only talk about themselves, guys that thought they were still the hot guy that peaked in high school, they lost the hair and gained a belly, but unfortunately did not lose the attitude. Like I said before, quantity, not quality. It's a numbers game, it's a job, it can be entertaining and hopefully one day when it goes "boom," the "boom" will be a keeper. Till then, happy swiping.
